Question 1:

I have an early (1984 150 ETXN) V6 Yamaha engine. I am thinking of picking up a set of rebuildable carbs to use as spares. My engine has the single float (Takaei) carbs and I understand that in 1986 Yamaha went to the dual float (Nikki) carbs on the 150. Are the Nikki and Takaei interchangeable or is a change of manifold or linkage necessary?

Question 2:

Is there a way that I can tell if the powerhead on my engine has been replaced with a later powerhead?

Re: Yamaha Carburetors

Interchanging should be no problem. The power head has a number which shoud match the serial number of the engine.

Re: Yamaha Carburetors

Thanks Ray,

As usual your response is timely and appreciated. I have the opportunity to pick up a set of dual float carbs at a resonable price. Thanks again,
