Hey guys,

Got a 2006 Yamaha F115 (fourstroke) and the trim motor will work 75% of the time. The other 25% I have to tap the motor with a hammer and it will work fine. The relay is engaging when the motor decides not to work. I was wondering 2 things.

1.) Can you tear these motors down, clean them up and rebuild them?

2.) In order to remove the trim motor, will I need to drain the hydraulic fluid, or is it contained regardless if the trim motor is installed or not. Thanks!!

electric motor
should be able to take apart and check brushes and connections
should not be filled up with fluid
I have never messed with a F115 T&T motor before, but have my C40 T&T

Thanks 99yam. I figured you would have some good insight. I have found an aftermarket trim pump for $70 and am going to try my luck with it. I will likely pull the old trim motor and clean it up in my spare time to have a spare.

I was pretty sure that the oil section of the trim system was completely separate from the motor itself, but just wanted to double check. I will likely tilt the motor all the way up, lock it in the up position, and remove the whole TnT for ease of trim motor install.

when you take the motor off , there will be some fluid leakage I believe, but not much.
I had a foam filter that came all apart when I pulled mine, had to flush it a little to clean it all up and order the parts
