I have a 03 F15 4 stroke yamaha. After changing the oil and filter and running it on the hose, I pulled the dipstick to re-check the level and it was milky. Real milky. Where is the water coming from? The gear oil was perfect.
Thanks in advance.

almost sounds to me like your head gasket is leaking or you have a cracked water jacket somewhere

Re: Yamaha f15 Water in oil Help!

i think if i were you i would take it to a marine mechanic to get that problem sorted out, there is a little trick i have used to check leaky head gaskets but it only works sometimes ( start the engine and let it idle, take a propane torch and turn the gas on but DONT light it, then slowly move it around the head gasket area..... if the motor revs up on its own the gasket is leaking) but you should be able to see a little water coming out from the head area usually if its leaking, hope that helps ( you can use the torch to check crank seals too)

Thanks Jason for the reply. I have no problem diggin in to this myself as I've owned many outboards but all 2 strokes. Compression seems normal when pull starting it and it starts right up. Never heard about the propane trick but I might just try it along with a compression test to start.

it doesnt have to be propane, it can be anything that is highly flammable like brake clean or something like that
