Yamaha F150... Won't start

This is a Yamaha F150 4stroke, a 2004 model but purchased new and installed a year ago. Has been running great until last weekend. Would not start, not even a cough!. Checked fuel supply, fuel bowl was full and fuel looked fine. No indication of any fuel pressure (this is a fuel injected engine so I assume there is an electric fuel pump). Checked fuses on the engine and they looked good. No indication that an electric fuel pump is running.
Now this is a re-power. It replaced a vmax 200 and is using the same two digital gauges that the 200 was using. The dealer said these guages/controls would work fine and up until now they have. Before I haul this thing all the way back to the dealer is there anything else that is easy to check and eliminate as a problem. For example:
1. Does the kill switch affect the ignition and the fuel pump. Might be defective?
2. Any wires from the ignition that I could check for voltage, open circuits?

3. Fuel problems? anything else that might affect fuel pressure?

I don't want to go to the trouble and expense to take this thing to the dealer if the problem is not in the engine but in the boat/guage/ignition switch wiring.

Any and all suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance.

Not sure if you are saying it was at least turning over or not. If not, these engines will not start unless it is in neutral. This sound pretty basic, but I have found my self several times checking wiring etc... when all I did was brushed up against the throtle and move it just past the neutral position....it just turns over sounding like there is no compression, just a dead turn over.

The starter turns it over just fine. All indications are that there is no fuel pressure at all. Again I am not sure whether power to the fuel pump could be interrupted by something in the ignition switch area. I would like to troubleshoot that part of it. This motor ran great up until a week before I tried to start it.

Check to see it your warrenty is still good, bring back to dealer to have them dignois the problem. good luck.. Also check for burned wire smell. You could have burned up the refractor/regulator, in turn would have melted down all your electronics including your ECM..

Re: Yamaha F150... Won't start

One thing I do know is there is no fuel pressure. I could be something catastrophic or, hopefully, something simple. I would like to explore the possibility of something simple before I tow the boat 40 some odd miles and leave at the dealer for an indeterminant amount of time. So does anyone know how the fuel system in an F150 work and what types of problems would result in zero fuel pressure? The fuel bulb pumps up and fills the fuel strainer in the engine just fine. This engine has no more than 30 hours on it.

check all the fuses in the fuse block,I think there is a relay for the fuel pump, also suspect is the fuel pressure regulator

make sure the E stop switch is ok, cranking with a bad or pulled switch will give an audible if the horn happens to work.
other than that, not much goes bad with that motor other than water in the fuel.
yes its an EFI motor and yes it has a high pressure pump in the VST along with a few filters.
however a well maintained rig never has filter problems :).
when you first turn the key on you should hear the pump whine for 3-5 seconds.

Re: Yamaha F150... Won't start

Thanks for the reply Rodbolt,
The fuel pump does not appear to run at all and no fuel pressure on the fuel rail. Fuses on the engine all look good. Also the fuel supply all the way to the engine looks good. This motor only has about 30 hours on it and it got a 10 hour inspection by the dealer last spring. No unusual events happened.. one weekend it worked great... next weekend no start! I suspect a problem in the ignition switch or perhaps the emergency switch. The instruments do come on when the ignition switch is on. I would like to trouble shoot the ignition switch before I haul it to the dealer but I don't where start. Any suggestions from anyone will be greatly appreciated.
