have a 2000 playbouy 16 foot pontoon with a Yamaha f40 tlry. I have not had the boat long. the prop that is currently on the boat is a 12.25 x 9 x 6. the prop has a lot of damage on it. I want wanting to reprop the boat. what is the best prop to give a a hole shot and top end. a good all round prop. thanks for the help.

Pontoon performance is somewhat unpredictable and can range all over the place.
A 12 1/4" X 9 prop is probably about the best you can do. Actually a 18 footer may be faster than your 16.
A dedicated pontoon prop may squeeze out a tiny bit of speed and may handle better around the dock'
Usually a 4 blade and may suggest 1" less pitch.
Pontoons don't plane but its my feeling the longer pontoon has a better chance make the best speed.
Hole shot and top speed really don't go together. When your only going to make 18 to 20 mph hole shot isn't much of an issue.
You don't have to plane, just get to top speed.
