Hi guys, I have had to re-register as my old e-mail address is no longer active :(

I have a Yamaha four-stroke 50 about 10 years old off memory. It is the carb version - pre injection.

Through the summer it was never a great starter, but now it's got cold it is out-right refusing! - UK climate.

I've pulled the plugs and they are dry.

I believe these have electronic chokes? My hunch is that it is not working as the second set of buterflies don't seem to move?

Can anyone offer any clues or any diagnosis suggestions?

Tomorrow is one beautiful forecast and I would love to make the most of it!

Thanks for any hints/tips/ suggestions you may have.

May need to manually choke. At least for the first start.

Thanks for the reply,

How do I do that!! I can't actually see how the choke works on this engine. I see that tere is a second set of butterflies, but you don't seem to be able to manually force them.

Any thoughts??

Thank you for your help.

Ok...the progress so far....

I disconnected the linkage to the bottom carb and that freed up the choke mechanism for the others, so that now when I crank the other 3 carbs open up. Still doesn't run though - but does occasionally fire. I've cleaned the fuel filter and also the fuel pump.

Any clues??

Is there anywhere on the net that I can download a workshop manual?

Thanks for any input.
