Please pardon me if I'm in the wrong forum.

Just yesterday my Yamaha fuel gauge started showing that I was at "Critical Fuel" by the very last bar blinking...despite having a full fuel tank.

Connections underneath the console to the gauge look pristinely clean and are encased in their waterproof, transparent connectors.

I have looked at the sender connections at the tank sending unit and they look like they could use a good cleaning. Any suggestion on how to test once I have the connections loose? One is a pink wire going to the sender center terminal and the other is a double "daisy-chained" ground to the tank body and outer portion of the sending unit.

The boat is a 2002 Cobia 234 CC. The Fuel gauge is an LCD type that is built into the spedometer.

Thanks!

the pink is send, ground the pink to a known good tank ground, you may wish to check your tank grounds as well. once you have determined a good ground, with the key on, connect the pink at the sender to ground. wait 20 seconds or so and the guage should react. if not you may have a bad ground or connection between the pink wire and the guage white wire.
the color changes at the meter.
if it reacts you most likly have a bad sender.
