I bought a boat that had a merc on it..all the gauges were working. the motor was pulled and 5 wires were cut going from the gauges to the wiring harness.. I put an 02 yamaha 150txra on the boat.. Do I need yamaha gauges or can I use the ones on the boat.. the gauges on the boat look new but dont have any names on them.. If I can use these gauges do I need another harness for my motor? My main harness has 4 wires I was told was for gauges, Black,green,yellow and a red wire which is capped..Another harness came with the motor and had 4 wires pink,orange,black and grey..On the gauge side I traced 3 wires to trim 1 on each side and 1 in the center.1 wire to rpm which is labeled send.and 1 wire going to temp. gauge..None of the cut wires were going to mph or hours gauge.fuel gauge is not working either but i dont think that has anything to do with the cut wires...
