I have a 2001 Yamaha Saltwater Series 200hp with a 25" shaft. I know most outboards have fore and aft play in the propshaft. My question is how much play (movement) should there be up and down? I have recently noticed it. It's not much, but it's definitely there.
Thanks,
Jeff

In-out no more than 1/8" Up-down, next to nuthin. Check with the prop off. It might just be the prop moving on the shaft.

Yamaha does not have a spec for end play on that standard rotation engine. Only on a counter rotation gear case or a F250-Z250-300 standard gearcase can end play be shimmed and checked.

Chances are yours is normal.
