We are re-building much of a 1976 Yamaha Mariner 28E 25HP motor. I need suggestions on carburator adjustments. It boggs down while in gear and won't idle...no power. The serial # 664S26034

The air adjustment is 1 1/4 turns from a soft stop. Many of those models used points for firing. Take a timing light and be sure the fire is not dropping out on you.

I don't believe it has points...not sure how to check timing. Seems to be firing ok. Air adjustment screw location?? (just to be sure). I just found the year...1976.
