I have 2001, twin Yamahas, 200hp, HPDI's. Occasionly, the port engine will not go above 3500 RPM's. It will max out at EXACTLY 3500 RPM's. If I turn off the engine and than turn it on again, it will be fine. This happens once or twice a trip.

Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Yamaha Max RPM problem

hello
check the shift switch and shift cable adjustments. also trace the wire from the stater solinoid lug to the main realy. we had some problems with the black chafe sleeve being pinched under the lug on the starter causing power loss to the relay. this normally shows up as a stutter not a 3500 rpm.try draining and catching any debris from the VST. after that you will need some diagostic tools. when was the last spark plug change?
