Am looking at buying a new boat (Bentley pontoon) that comes equipped with Mercury Controls.

Already have a working '84 90hp Yamaha (with 703 Side Control Box) that I want to put on the new boat.

1) Is it better to keep the Side Control Box (with the oil/overheat warnings) or buy a 704 Single Binnacle Control Box? If I buy it, I guess I won't have an oil/overheat warning?

2) Whether or not I buy the Binnacle control, would I also need to buy new guages as well, or can the guages, ignition, etc. work with the Yamaha motor?

I'm just trying to figure out how much trouble (i.e. money) it'll be to put this motor on a new boat. Have looked at similar posted topics but couldn't find much to go on.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Yamaha Motor on Boat w/ Mercury Controls

As far as my knowledge goes the guages and controls work on each other, but I might be wrong, I have a yamaha on evenrude controls and guages and they work perfectly.
