Yamaha Multi function Digital Tach question

I recently just replaced an old multi function digital tach. With one of the newer models Part # 6Y5-8350T-82-00. The trim setting is not correctly adjusted. When motor is trimmed all the way up it blinks, and then when engine is trimmed all the way down its still around #4 on gauge number on side. What could be causing this, I checked the trim sender and that seems to be moving fine.

Also, a side question, on this new tach. There is a pink wire coming out of tach, not sure where it goes?

Boat Motor info is:

Re: Yamaha Multi function Digital Tach question

The trim sensor cam has an adjustment. Loosen the screw and move the cam, down I think. The O.E cams were plastic and prone to breakage, replacements are metal.

The pink wire is not used on all Yamahas, such as 2003 and earlier F30, F40 and F50.

I think it is used on 2 strokes for the oil tank sensor but not sure????

You also need to verify the dipswitch settings on the back of the tach.

Good luck
