Yamaha multifunction speedo dead

I have a 1992 Yamaha 175 O/B with digital tach and multifunction speedo. The tach and is working fine, but the multifunction speedo died all of a sudden. The backlight still works, but there is no readout. How can I check to make sure it it getting power for the LCD and does the backlight run off the same power? Thanks

on the speedo, yellow is key on 12v, light is blue,red is memory,black is ground.
