Friend got a new to him boat with a 89 yamaha 200 hp. 2 stroke. Still oil injected. He got the alarm/ speed cut back when the oil tank went low. He was not aware that the remote oil tank was just a replentish tank, I told him to fill the main tank and things worked out fine.
So last sat. he is in rough water and again he get the alarm/ speed reduction after an hr or so of operation. I am sure the tank is low and he has to repair the replentish system. He is concerned the engine is overheating. Is there a different tone or beep or sequence to the warning system to distinguish between the lo oil and an o heat? We dont have any books on this motor and I dont have the time right now to help him. thanks fred

Re: Yamaha o/heat-low oil warning

does he have digital guages? they show u what the alarm is for
sometimes sludge will build up in the main tank, which needs to be cleaned and flushed out
u have a screen also on the remote tank
u also have a manual switch to over ride the normal pump mode which u can do to fill the on-motor tank

Re: yamaha o/heat-low oil warning

He as 3 digital indicatiors of 89 vintage. Dont have them figured out yet as my book for an 05 does not quite match up to anything he has. Have figured out that one of the fuel indications needs a YAMAHA sending unit. Dont know what type of alarm he got as I was not with him. Have sent the inof on site that bernieb posted and am sure it will be a big help THANKS! fred
