I have a 2001 Pursuit with twin 2-stroke 150 Yamahas, and the other day the oil level alarm went off on one engine. I tracked the problem down to a bad oil pump, so I replaced it yesterday, and it now works on the manual override switch.

The oil level on the tank on the engine is now about halfway between the high and low marks - shouldn't the system automatically try to fill it to the high mark when the engine is running?

Re: Yamaha Oil Level

the 96 and up precision blend set up wont cycle normally unless the engine is running, the yellow lamp(middle bar on the tach) is OFF, meaning thereis at least 2 qts in the remote tank, and SW2(in the engine tank is on.
SW1 is pump off command at the upper mark on the engine tank,SW2 is pump on command about the low level mark,SW3 is RPM reduction audible and visual alarm indicate on when the level goes about an inch below the low level mark.
there is one condition that transfer will occur with key on engine off.
make sure you have at least 1 gallon of oil in the remote tank, drain the engine oil tank via the vynil water trap, routine maint, replace the trap and tie strap.
turn the key on, you should get an audible,3 bars flashing, may be arrows, and pump on command for 180 seconds. if the engine tank cannot refill and shut off in 180 seconds either the remote tank filter is clogging or the oil line is restricted.
