I have a 1987 Yamaha 200 and I took it it out for the first time yesterday and got stuck in the mud in about 2 feet of water. I raised the engine a little bit a after about 3 minutes I worked my way out. While it was getting out it started to overheat and the temp gauge nearly pegged out. It was also smoking a lot. A buzzer was going off.
When I got it out of the mud the temp quickly went to its normal operating temp but was running very rough and had no power. Suddenly it smoothed out and got its power back and I drove it 20 miles back to the dock with no problem.
What was the buzzer and the smoke and why did it run so bad and suddenly was ok ? Anything I should do now?
I have not owned a boat for 25 years and yesterday was my first time out . Any advise would be helpful. I am a mechanic by trade so I could probably run any checks on it
