Here's one for you prop guru's out there:

I just got myself a new boat , a 19ft Yamarin w/ a Yamaha F115.(Recommended top rpms 5-6000)
The boat is a closed cabin, weighing 1700lbs.
Currently running 58-5900 w/2 persons, at 40mph.
The prop is a Yamaha 13x19 alum. propeller, it seems to work ok for being a stock prop , but I'd like a bit more grip and bow lift.(It blows out and loses grip before I get the hull fully trimmed out of the water) The cavitation plate is maybe a 1/4" above the bottom of the boat.
I'll also have a Yamaha Pro series 13.25x17 to try out in a few weeks, I'm not familiar with the pro series props , will this prop give me approx. the same rpms as the 19" alum?

If I'm looking for a good all-round SS prop, what size and model would be my best bet? Rapture/Ballistic/PowerTec/Turbo etc?

Re: Yamaha props...

It looks like you've got a little bit more slip than you should. Everything else looks fine.

Dropping to that 17 pitch Pro series may be the answer. It just might raise your RPM to 6000 and give you a better bite. Otherwise you might want to try a little more cup on that 19. The cup should give you more bow lift and less slip, but it could drop your RPM...which isn't always bad.

Finding the optimum prop is just a matter of trial and error on your particular boat.

Thanks,
Forgot to say I have less than 10 hours on the engine , I guess it will loosen up and get more rpms as I get more hours on it?
