I couldn't find a forum on props regarding my 2004 Yamaha 150 txrc 2-Stroke. Basically Im looking to upgrade from the standard original prop. My owners manual states its a 14-1/2 x 17-M. What would be the ideal 3 or 4 blade stainless steel prop upgrade ?

2005 Sea Pro 206cc
2004 Yamaha 150 txrc/2 stroke

Thanks

Re: Yamaha Props

While the 17 could be the standard prop the application would determine the actual size.
You should confirm it is the 17" Numbers are usually near the base of the blades or under the prop nut.
If you read "read this first" at the top of the page and get us the info we can tell better a reasonable selection.
If you have any Qs about prop terms,ie: pitch, diameter, slip, rpm, cup, etc:There are folks here that can help.

Re: Yamaha Props

We have had great success with a couple of styles of Turbos (or Stiletto - same thing) on those hulls. As for a 3 or 4 blade that depends on what you're looking for in a prop and your current set up.

Re: Yamaha Props

Sorry for not reading the "read first" section.
I'm not trying to correct a performace issue, the aluminum prop seems worn and rough on the edges.
I barely got the old one off, and I looked for the numbers all I could read is 14. Everything else is unreadable. Although I did find 19m and Y-1 on certain areas of the old prop.
I'm just your average fisherman that goes a dozens times a year in the coastal areas of NC and occasionally a mile or two off the beach.

I hope this helps, I'm somewhat new to boating and forums.

Thanks for the information.

Re: Yamaha Props

We can't assume either number is correct as a pitch though 19M is obiously similar to the 17M
found in your manual.Compared to the 17 The 19 would reduce power but could improve speed if the motor can turn it up to the motors rpm range suggested in the manual.
If we knew your typical wot(wide open throttle) rpm and speed we could tell if the 19
seems correct. Can you tell us the dry weight of the Sea Pro. and your typical full load.
From your description I don't think you need a ss prop. unless you feel it will hold up better in your conditions.
When you install the prop grease the shaft and check it annually until your sure how well it holds up.
