I have a 1990 deck boat with a 4.3 and the yamaha sterndrive. I found the water tube in the transom leaking on the outside, I was curious on how to remove the tube from the transom. Or would it be better to just block it off and install a through hull puck up with a 1/4 turn valve. Just wandering. Thanks for all of you help in advance!

Re: Yamaha sterndrive water tube

It is a pain to remove being it comes out from the inside. I would install a thru hull and block off the transom line.

Re: Yamaha sterndrive water tube

Thanks Capt. Ken. I finally figured out how to remove it. I removed the out drive because the drive bellow was cracked and in need of replacing. After removing the bellow I could easily access the tube from the rear. I went in side the boat and removed the plate with the two bolts, a nylon retaining ring, a stainless washer and finally the tapered rubber seal. After those were removed I went out side of the boat, reached through the gimbal housing and turned the tube 90 degrees counter clockwise an the tube literally fell out of the transom. Just a little FYI incase anyone else ever runs into this problem again. Thanks for your help again!
