Yamaha t&t

I have a yamaha 70 hp with intermitent t&t problems. When I tilt up or down the travel speed decreases intermitently. when this occurs the wires from the relay to the tim motor get hot. Could I have a bad relay or electric motor problem?

Possibly a motor going down, more likely a connection problem. Check and tighten battery and engine connections.
