Yamaha tach displaying a "1"

The tachometer on my '99 225 is displaying a "1", and I thought I read a post on this forum which diagnossed this as a bad tach but could not find the post. Any ideas?

test all bullet connectors and reset the dipswitches.if that does not cure it odds are the tach is bad,.
