My motor is stuck in the up position. My relief valve slotted-head is stripped. How else can I get it lowered?

Disconnect the large blue and green wires running to the trim motor. Jumper from a battery the green wire to postive and the blue wire to negative.

My tilt motor works, (doesn't lower the motor though) but I need to lower it to put in more fluid as it leaks out of a seal apparently. Fluid has been topped off while motor was in the up position.

Re: Yamaha tilt won't go down

I just had the exact same problem on a Suzuki. Solution was to open the fill screw (which wasn't stripped) with a rag at the ready in case oil came out. Filled it back up, screwed it shut and problem solved.

If the refill screw is stuck on there, put the screwdriver in and then tap it with a hammer lightly to break the rust.

its supposed to be in the full up position to fill it. you may have other problems in the unit.
