Yamaha trim indiction trouble shooting

I have a 1997 Salt water II 150 (S150TXRV) I replaced a digital tach today and cannot get the trim indiction to work. RPM, and oil work great. Trim indication didn't work with the old system either.

Is there any way I can test the trim sender to see if it is working? Thanks!

ok I found the culprit. on my motor the plastic cam piece that holds the trim send arm is broken. Can anyone tell me how to replace and rig this part. My yamaha manuals dont cover this.
