I have twin 115hp yamaha outboards that I am trying to install individual hour meters for them on the console. These are basic meters that looks for a key on hot wire (Yellow). The issue I have is when I turn on the key for the port motor the yellow wire is hot on both port and starboard switch and visa versa. I am trying to figure out why? Why does either switch make the other do the same thing; the yellow wire goes hot. To me they should be separate of each other. The motors start correctly from their respective switch?? Any help?

Re: Yamaha Twin 115hp 4-stroke hour meter install question

depending on what it was rigged with and who rigged it you will either need to seperate the yellows someone crossed under the console or add the duel engine diode assy.
normally we find someone connected the yellows instead of adding another lead wire for accessories.
