Hey Guys,
I've get a 03 15hp 4stroke kicker. A few months ago I was trolling along and noticed oil/gas in the water. Took the cover off and saw where some oil/gas had run down the side of the motor and was dripping out the back, what looks to be a hole for water? They oil/gas mixture ran down the side of the shaft cover and into the water. The motor is real clean so I tried tracing it back to see where it was coming from. At first I though maybe it was came out of the where the oil dip stick sits. I reset it and continued to watch it. The oil is still coming out but not as much. Now it actually seems to be coming out of the carb air intake. It definitely seems to be an oil and gas mixture that is coming out.

Any suggestions?

I had my carb rebuilt last year BTW

Thanks a bunch :)

Re: Yami 15hp ES ET

So, I took the motor in and the mechanic said he has seen this issue with Yami's before especially on the smaller motors, 9.9's and 15's.

He said in the business they call it "making oil". That's why it smelled like and oil gas mix. I guess there was to much oil in the motor and some pickup or valve was spitting the oil out through where the carb air intake is. When I went to check the oil, oil came spewing out

do a forum seach on making oil.
the two most normal causes are over cooling and over propping.
the engine must be capeable of 6000 RPM at WOT even pushing a load it was never intended to push.
and it occasionally needs to run above 4000 RPM for 20-30 minutes just to make the oil warm enough to evaporate off the fuel vapors and condensation from the sump.
this aint grannys impala.
