yammaha 1988 L-200ETG

one of my engines running 4000 just cut out itermittently and then died. the engine won't turn over now with the starter. i can turn it over by hand but its not easy. i also pulled the plugs and it does the same thing. opinions?

with the plugs out it should be fairly easy to turn over by hand. what did the plugs look like? were any damaged? you need to get the motor cranking so you can compression test the cylinders.

3 of the plugs look wet or oily like they were not fireing the other 3 looked fine. Before this happened the motor would misfire and smoke at idle.In august I had the motors checked out and comp was 145-130.

a lot could of happened between then and now. you need to update that check.

I did comp test and one cylinder is way low. 0 maybe a hole in piston or a head gasket? I'll probably pull the head and look. How hard is it to pull the head?

Not hard at all. Basically just unbolt it. Remove the ground wires and unplug the temp sensor first. That age motor may require you to pry loose at the places made for this to get unglued.
