I had a person the other day to say they had a boat for sale. It is an aluminium boat about I'd guess 12 or 14 ft long, with wood bench seats and wood floor. I think it is an old one. Anyhow, its got from the best of my memory an Evinrude 330 outboard engine. I don't know the serial number as of yet, but I was wondering if someone could give me a ballpark age and info on this engine and if they are any good or not. Boat and motor looks really weathered and alot of the wood and carpet needs ripped out and redone. Just trying to get info if boat is worth fooling with or not. All info appreciated. :)

Can't tell you anything without the model number, astroglass, except that Evinrudes were always very good engines.

I guess I will have to get model and serial number. I don't know it but it looks to me like it might be a '70s motor. Might not be worth foolin with. I don't know if you would even be able to get parts for it anymore. Again, model and serial is a sure way to tell the age. Thanks JB :)

If it's from the 70's, you'll find that almost all parts are available. That's not even old as Evinrudes go. There are a bunch of 1950s vintage 'rudes doing yeoman's duty on boats all around the world, and parts are still available for them, too.

Heck, there's a guy who fishes on a lake near me...my favorite lake...who has an old Light Four from the 40s on his equally old boat. Starts first pull everytime I've seen him use it.

Old is a relative term when it comes to outboards, and OMC products from even the 50s aren't really old...they're just experienced.
