You well need the model number go to FAQ and open up year and model should be able to trace it from there.

Re: Year and Model of Evinrude

I belive a Lark II can only be a 1960 40hp, but you should check your transom clamp for a model number (on top of the clamp), or the silver disc on the top of the engine block near the back. At the very least, there's a good chance the cover is not original.
Evinrude Models 35520-21, 35018-19:
Year 1960
HP 40
WOT RPM 4500
Displacement 43.9 cu.in. = 719.4 ccm
Cylinders 2
Weight 129 - 139 lbs. = 58.5 - 63 Kg
Gear ratio 12:21
Picture
Spark plugs: Champion J4C (was J4J) gapped at .030"
Fuel mix: 24:1 87 octane gas to TCW-3 rated outboard oil. Check out the oil mix faq in the Engine FAQ forum.

Re: Year and Model of Evinrude

I have an Evinrude Lark Model 35520 serial #12044 40hp but the title with boat and motor says 1956 Isnt motor 1960? Motor is like new but hasnt been used since 2003 any suggestions on testing it the key is missing from ignition. Thanks in advance. Boat is a 1956 crestliner, great shape cant wait to try her out.
