year & hp of johnson outboard

I have a Johnson Sea Horse, model #27E250, ser. #544317. Can anyone identify the year of manufacture and horsepower of this engine?

IM NOT SURE I USE TO HAVE A 75 2HP SEA HORSE WITH SIMULAR NUMBERS AND I COULDNT TELL EITHER. IF IT WERE ME I WOULD CALL A JOHNSON SERVICE CENTER AND GIVE THEM THE NUMBERS SURLY THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO TELL YOU.

How about a photo or at least a description. I can't even find a model that even comes close to that number.

Colour, size, weight or even a guess at age or hp.

And are you sure of the model number? the 27 part seems odd to me.

I have searched this one to death. I couldn't find it at ken cooks site, and I searched many webpages to find other tables, but this wasn't listed. I checked to see if it was a 27 hp due to the first 27, but they were only made in 1931 - 33 and had COMPLETELY different model numbers. I tried to search it by serial number too, but it said there wasn't a match. Hmmm. I will keep searching.

if bassboy1 can't find it. i think you are sol, he know's every outboard site on the web. could be canada made and not show up on our stuff. you both are in the northern section of the country.

It is a late 40's 9.8HP - now I just wish I could find parts for it.

Are you sure that's the model number and not just a part number? I think the 1940's 9.8 hp is the model KD. However, I don't know much about the pre-50's motors.

I think the 27E250 is a casting number. It is appears to be a model KD-XX 9.8HP (1941-1948). I am not able to convert the serial number to the year made.
