traded for a 1150 mercury cant find a serial number either but mine does have thunderbolt ignition it says on front of motor. it seems to have a distributor<br />thanks for any help on this and can you tell me where to look on motor for the serial number.

with a dist. it's older than 78, if it is trimed in blue it's newer than 73, if the face plate says Kiekhaffer on it it is a 73. if it has red trim it is before 73. If you can describe the trim I can come closer

it does have blue trim . can you tell me if these motors are atill trustworthy. everything on inside looks real good but its been setting for about three years. maybe next day or two i will try to get it started. any advise is appreciated.<br />thanks again

The 1150s were good engines I had one that my kids ran the H--- out of when they were teens. It was a newer one with alternator driven ign. The earlier ones with the battery CD did have some trigger problems once in awhile, but were an overall good unit as far as I'm concerned--Bob
