year of my evinrude

Hi there,I cant seem to be able to find year of <br />motor.Went to docktalk,still no luck.Please help.<br /><br />SERIAL # 18002CC<br />MODEL? # E37763C<br />H.P. 18<br />I am also concerned about the white smoke coming<br />from motor,at the end of last season.Maybe it was<br />a bad oil to gas mixture,or too overloaded.Any help would be much appreciated.<br /> THANX.

You've got the model number and serial reversed. 18002 is the model number, which is a 1970 18 hp. White smoke usually indicates water entering the combustion chamber. Check compression and if its low or if there is a large variance, remove the cylinder head and check the head gasket for damage. While the cylinder head is off, rotate the flywheel and inspect both cylinder walls.<br /><br />-John

THANX ALOT JOHN FROM ILLINOIS<br /><br />I guess on this motor,they made an exception,<br />because on the serial # plate,they stamped<br />18002cc.Thank you for the info. on the white <br />smoke issue.I will approach it in that manner.<br /><br /> ROBMEG
