can someone help with the year of this outboard model # J225TXE8S I BELIVE THIS IS CORRECT IT IS HARD TO READ IT MAYBE J225TXE85

CAn you check the number agian. You can go to www.johnson.com and click docTalk, then engine model reference guide. The only number that seemed like it would be close to yours as a typo 225TXES Maybe the 8 in yours is a "S" if so its a 1990. Check the site and see if you can make anything of it. <br /><br />Good Luck

went outside and cleaned tag a little you are correct # is J225TXESS SO I GUESS THIS IS A 1990 ?
