Probably reads 9R70A.If so it's a 1970 9.5 hp Johnson.Mix fuel at 50:1 using TWC3 two cylcle outboard oil and 87 octane unleaded.Use J4C Champion sparkplugs gapped at .030".

It has its advantages.Check out the thread titled "synthetic oils " in the general outboard discussions forum.

Good idea to remove the drain screw and inspect the condition of the lower unit gear lube. You can get squeeze tubes of some Penzoil lower unit lube at Wal-Mart or better yet, a nearby outboard dealer. There will be two screws. One for drain on the bottom just above the skeg, and one for vent and level weep, just above the anti-ventilation plate.Good idea to always replace the drain and vent screw seals when servicing.Fill from bottom until gear lube weeps from top vent hole. This is where the level should be.Good luck, and happy boating.
