I have a 1996 mariner 200 EFI. I have a 40 amp charging system. Last night I unhooked the 2 yellow wires from the top rec/reg in order to check resistance on stator yellow leads and checked out ok. The question I have is, does it matter when hooking yellow leads from stator back to the top rec/reg yellow leads if they were swapped? I remembered the bottom rec/reg yellow wires just forgot the top rec/reg-stator connections. From looking at manual I don't think it matters but would like to know for sure. thanks.

Nope does not matter. If the connectors are black/melted discolored from overheating, clean or replace them as they will cause running problems with a EFI engine. The replacement ends(male/female/clear boots) can be purchased thru CDI
