yet another drive swapping question

I have another question for anyone here. I may have asked this before but forgot the answer and am too lazy to look back. <br />Will a pre-alpha drive from a v-8 small block ford fit to replace a drive behind an inline 6 Mercury (chevy)? <br />I know the gear ratio will be different and the shaft might be different, but will it bolt on?<br />Also how hard is it to change gear ratio and shaft?<br />Thanks again everyone.
