Yes, I used the search function, but there SO MANY posts and some contradict each other, plus other are just WRONG !

First, the gauge reads FULL when the ignition key is on.
Second, the gauge is out of the tank and I can confirm that FULL is 30 ohms and EMPTY is 240 ohms. With the sender disconnected, the gauge reads EMPTY.

I need confirmation on how I THINK the gauge and sender are wire.
  • B+ to ignition switch
  • ignition to gauge (pretty certain this is working because the gauge light comes on)
  • gauge to sender (pink wire)
  • gauge (black wire) to B-
If those assumptions are correct, I should be looking for a short to ground somewhere between the gauge and the sender (pink wire). Is my logic CORRECT ?

No Title

Verified +12 at I terminal with key on (using a test lamp as a load and a DMM)
Ran separate ground from battery to G terminal (after disconnecting ground from terminal). Also connected the black wire from sender to same terminal.
Hooked pink wire from sender DIRECTLY to S terminal

Still reads F, so it must be the gauge.

Anyone recognize what brand this gauge is ?

"I" terminal on ignition switch to "+" on gauge.
"-" terminal on gauge to system ground (wherever you find it)(
"S" on gauge (pink wire) to sender.
Metal flange of the sender must be connected to ground (wherever you find it).
"L" terminal (light) on gauge to NAV/ANC switch or "I" terminal on ignition switch if you want the light on all the time. It can also be jumpered to "+" terminal on gauge.

To check for a short in the pink wire, disconnect both ends. Us and ohm meter between ONE end and ground. Should show open. If not, there is a wire issue. If the wire is ok, then ensure when you tighten connections at the gauge make sure the ring terminal on the "S" terminal or the "-" ring terminal do not swing around and touch each other. When you install the sender, make sure the float arm does not get stuck in the up position. If too long it can hang on the side of the tarnk.
