Now that I got the jammed cover off my recently-purchased 1998 8hp E8RECR Evinrude I think it would be best to replace these Autolite 425 plugs. Outboard starts and runs fine but plugs are heavily rusted outside surface--worst I have ever owned, or possibly seen on a functioning outboard engine.

Cross-reference chart i am using does not cross to any Champion plug that I see on the BRP/OMC exploded diagrams. What Champion marinized plug matches Autolite 425 (heat range 5 or possibly 1 hotter = 6)? Thanks...

Actually the OEM plug in my book is listed as the Champion QL86C if you can't find that one there is several equivalent plugs available.

Lo and behold I looked inside the cowl and (amongst the cobwebs) I found that a previous owner made note of the QL86C sparkplug ( same as I see listed first/standard in the BRP/OMC exploded diagram). Thanks MTboatguy for confirming what is standard.
