I have read a few posts of people that have had issues with their Zoom boats. One in particularly, the one that had the transom attachment come unglued from the tube. I have never seen this before and I have sold hundreds of these new Zooms. The only problem I have seen, is the oar locks can break easily, or the pump may fail however, as far as the construction of the seams, floor and transom go, it should last you 10 years. Any type of PVC boat will be attacked by the sun and UV rays when you are as far south as Florida, Texas, California or further south. Those markets should only be selling Hypalon boats !

Transom usually achieves ungluing issues due to poor tube inflation, not providing correct holding rigidity against side tubes, using a heavier engine than factory recommended, poor gluing at factory and being made you know where and not in France where it should, oh la, la...

I agree totally with you. Some people dont understand the weight difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke motors. Under inflared boats are also a common site. I dont understand not owning a pressure gauge

Ronald,

Most boater don't believe in the benefits of using a pressure gauge, will never enjoy top boat/engine performance. Can spend thousands of dollars, drink lot's of beers and can't buy a pressure gauge for outing starting day one. The more weight of the 4 strokes will stress transom faster than of the two. But both in the short/medium run will end having unglued transom issues. I see it all the time here and after just max 2 years, and all those inflatables are used as tenders. Imagine them doing extreme boating...

Howdy,

I bought my Zodiac Zoom in 2002 and have a Tohatsu 4-stroke 9.8 (81lbs) on the back.

I ALWAYS ensure it's pumped at least to 2.5-3.0 psi (3.4psi limit)

Although I don't use it year round and haven't used it for a few years, I used it this summer at Lake Shasta, Ca and it's still in perfect shape!

Cheers,

Rick
