So I just bought a 96' Zxi 1100 yesterday for $1,600. Looks great, engine very clean, has 111 psi in all cylinders. Test drove it yesterday had a slight vibration when you first take off but immediately goes away. Ran great on the test drive. Took it up to 65 (on the speedo that is). start and stopped quite a few times with no problem. This is where the problem comes in...... I went out on the lake today to meet up with some friends. Launched it, fired right up and away i went. 6 miles running perfect then it starts to bog and the power just slowly disappears until it stalls. My friend had some tools so I pulled all the plugs, they were border line fouled but ive seen engines run on way worse. Also, pulled the flame arrester to make sure there was a nice squirt of gas into the carbs when pulling the throttle (there was). After tinkering with it for about 30 min. I got it to fire back up but would not hold idle. I had to pulse it and then when I tried to take off it just violently shut down. I'm at a loss. Does anyone have any ideas or can help???

Try new plugs first - I have experienced plugs that "should" work but don't. IMO - I would address the carb(s) settings, and fuel pump diaphragms to make sure they are set right and that the diaphragms aren't bulged/warped. Also check fuel/oil mixture whether it's injected or premixed. An over compensating oil pump or too much oil mix with fuel will choke out your motor after a few runs. After plugs though, I'm almost certain it's a carburation problem.
