20 amp sounds right i think 5 amp w/b too low, i will get one from the auto parts and in stall, i had the big connector diconnected and i was cleaning one of the pins with a screw driver and it sparked, dumb move! that is how i blew the fuse!
Yes you can get the fuses , I just like the fact I can get the atm fuses at just about any gas station, convenience store, etc. etc. Also the ruber holder is more or less water tight . And since I use the atm fuses in my fuse panel for everything on my boat . I dont need two different type fuses. They are also relatively indestructible, unlike the glass ones. But, of course everyone has an opinion, thats just mine.
I check the output it is running a bit high14. 90 volts but it has been doing that all year long, replaced the voltage regulator 2 years ago with a new one it is water cooled located uder flywheel !
DWJ, Thanks for the reply. The only reason I suggested , the change, is . Ive had problems , especially , in the older fuse panels , that take the glass fuses .
The clips that hold the fuses get weak , loose etc. Resulting in a poor connection.
But mainly , the availability of the glass type.
Much harder to find, when compared to the atm fuses.
