Well, it looks like the all-mighty government is going to give me some of my own money back this year!
I've dedicated a portion to the boat, and at the top of the list is a set of smart tabs! This thing has horrendous bow rise on takeoff, it's an 18' Cal-Glass with a Ford 302/stringer drive and I think your tabs will be just the ticket. I was wondering if the standard or the new SX's would be better, and what weight actuators I will need (60 or 80#)? I'm not sure of the boat's weight, but it's definately @ss heavy. Here's a pic of my transom:
I'm thinking about mounting them just inboard of where my tiedown ropes are. The transducer on the port side is from a long-gone sounder and is going bye-bye. Will I/should I move my speedo pickup also? Is there a recomended distance it should be away from any tabs etc.?
Also, who in BC, Canada sells your tabs? I've been looking forward to getting a set since last summer and can't wait to try them! If they help 1/2 as much as what I've been reading from the other members that have tried them, I know at least a 1/2 dozen fellow boaters with similar issues I'll be recomending them to. 2 have already tried foils with only mediocre results. I had a foil on my previous boat (16' w/65hp OB) that while helping with bow rise and hole shot, cost almost 5mph and felt less stable at speed.
I'm anxious to give your product a shot!
PS: yes the boat is a little off-center on the trailer. Was blowing pretty good when I last loaded it and had a long line behind me, so I didn't waste time getting it perfect.
