Does anyone know of a good solution that removes water spots? Some sort of spray that can be used each time you pull the boat out of the water. I heard mixing vinegar and water works well, but doesn't that strip the wax?

I use Ducky, but it sure smells like Vinegar and water to me . . . I have always been concerned about stripping the wax too. Does anybody know if Ducky avoids this?

I looked on Ducky's website. It doesn't say anything about not stripping the wax.

Re: Water spot removal

i never thought ducky waterspot remover smelled like anything....looks like water to me. no idea what the active ingriedient is. but it works better than anything else i've tried.

don't know if it removes boat wax or not either. i do know i useally have to have at least one wax job in mid summer or she starts lookin poorly...i just figured it was cause i went boating too much......:) or more likely, that i'm too lazy and only wipe down the boat down maybe half the time after i use it. then i get the horrible waterspots.......time for the ucky ducky treatment then......

Fantastik cleaner works really great! I was talking with my local boat parts/repair lady, long time boaters with a beautiful Chaparral, that is spotless by the way. She agrees vinegar strips the wax but said Fantastik did not. I used it this weekend and it definitely does a great job with water spots but I can't say about removing wax for sure.

I'll have to try that. Ducky is expensive, and even though I agree it is not as strong as vinegar, I do smell something . . .

a wet towel rub down immediately after hitting the trailer or lift is cheap and doesn't strip wax, not so easy or fun necessarily though. i tried ducky but didn't like the price either.

Re: Water spot removal

I have to admit I am one of those who sit back and read but have to answer this post because I had the same problem with my boat especially on the lower unit. My brother is a car body repair person and he said do not use that kitchen stuff on your boat as it will surely damage your clear coat and fast. My Ranger cost over 35k and I sure don't want to take any chances. I read about a guy that advertises on another site his name is Skeeter. He sells some stuff called Boat Restore and Wonderfoam. I am not a person to jump at every post I see about a product but this product has thread after thread of very positive posts on walleye central. So, long story short I bought some. Wonderfoam takes off the grim, waterspots and mineral deposits like nothing I have ever seen. I applied the restore which is a cleaner wax after I got the boat and motor clean and the boat looks new. I do put the restore on about every 3erd time out of the water but both products take no effort at all to use. Easiest clean up I have ever seen. Not sure if I can post the site I ordered it from but the mod delete it if they want. www.larsensales.com Good luck. Bill
