Re: 2 or 4 stroke trimmer?

I bought a Troybuilt 4 stroke a couple of years ago. It starts easy, runs smoother, more torque at lower rpm, and not having to mix oil/gas is great. I had a 2 stroke on my pole saw that worked pretty good, but it would bog down in heavier wood. I put the 4 stroke on the polesaw and it does a much better job. It doesn't bog down like the 2 stroke did after it would lose its rpm. It works great at weed trimming also. It doesn't seem as loud as the 2 stroke either.

Just wondering if there is any 4 stroke chainsaws yet?

I have a Ryobi 4 stroke that has worked trouble free, for 8 years.

This model has the changable head, that can switch to cultivator, edger and others, but I have not tried any of them.

Would not hesitate to buy one again.

I just love the smell of a 2 stroke, trimmer, outboard or whatever !!! makes me feel good even if I am not on the boat !!!!
Seriously though I have a 2 stroke and no issues other than changing the plug every other year befor it tells me it needs changing by not starting !!!

the one I have now is a 12yr old homelite weedeater straight shaft, stupid thing was getting harder and harder to start and now it wont run at all. Compression was down to 50 psi, I'm soaking the rings in varsol, I'll get a new plug tomorrow and if it still dont start it's off to the curb.

My Echo 2-stroke is one of the best trimmers I have ever used and one of the most heavy duty attachment models I have ever seen. I couldn't ask for anything better.

at top dead center I filled her up with varsol and let her soak, a day and a new spark plug later she fired up like when she was new. So proud of myself.

I really like my Echo 2-stroke, too. Starts easy, will idle as long as you want to set it down and runs like a champ. Much better than my old Ryobi. Cuts weeds that the Ryobi bogged down on.

Just don't forget to quit mixing gas if you go from a 2stroke to a 4stroke.

This season I filled up my 1gallon gas can and promptly mixed the oil and started to fill up the weed eater. Luckily I remembered before I poured the gas in that this weedeater used straight gas. So now I have a gallon of useless (to me) mixed fuel :D
