Had a bad day at the boat ramp. Got backed down, and tried to start motor with Motor up . Started got stuck. Took calling off then disconnected negative battery terminal. Then un engaged starter. Put calling back on. Started engine, everything seems ok then found out dock where you take boat is torn down and can't be used.

Took boat to another dock , unloaded and took off and could bearly get her planed up. Could only get 24 mph when I can usually hit close to 40mph. Got boat home and found wire running from Power pack to resistor had been previously cut and crimped with a end to end connector. ( One of the ends had come out of the crimped connector. Probably happened when I took off the caling.

Is ther anything else I should check before I take it to the water? It ran like a scolded dog prior to this happening.

I would give it a shot after you fixed the wire.

But I would tell you not to start the motor with it "up" or out of the water, you will destroy your water pump that way, even if it's just for a few seconds.

I second that. It's okay to _trim_ it up a bit to remove some back pressure, just don't tilt it up and out of the water. You have to keep the water pump wet.

Yes it is bad to start motor with it up. It was a mistake. You know the kind when fisherman can't wait to get to that spot and he plants his head where the sun doesnt shine and screws something up.

A condition referred to in the technical literature as "fish dumb". We've all suffered from it.
