Last week boss was up , he said he thought I was kiddin bout heights, wouldny "make" me do it, I was so fired up about this whole silly fear thing, just did it - one type of crane has unprotected ladder(no fallback cage), I didn't like then u take elevator up to whatevr level(highest) - is elevator that freaks most out, didnt bug me a bit!!! What a view 150' - 175 over Bay and perfect day! So when we had to do another I was first up ladders and elevators, AWESOME, had
to give boss a high five when we got down, made both our days :)

PS - never forget at least 3 point of contact :)

Oh I can guarantee you'll land, one way or another. :D

I had a fear of heights for a while after an extension ladder fall with a broken leg... now I'm just afraid of being on an extension ladder. Nevertheless, I have climbed up to pressure wash the house last year.

oh also, having absolute faith in your abilities, thinking out entrance and egress BEFORE, take it one rung at a time(goes fast after awhile)don't look down too much, watch the guy in front of yous safety vest(bright orange) and I wear work gloves for climbing, especially on greasy, wet ladder rungs. Also makes it a non issue if your hands sweat. Always plan and work at the speed of safety! Tie off if you can(we can't as always in motion) with proper harness, IF you do slip, you may get banged up for 6-12' but you aint gonna be dead. Also have it in your mind that noone is getting hurt or killed on your shift. Had a few minor bangups on my guys, but nothing serious. Also my thought was, guys do this everday here, they are no better skilled than I am, course my 50% range of motion in left knee makes me a bit more clumsy prone, so I step extra carefully and ALWAYS have both hands on something else. My boss is thrilled as I now am the pro and will take other guys up - woohoo, heehee :) but looking forward to it. I LOVE conquering stuff like this!
