2007 Impala to tow?

I have a 1981 Astroglass 15' bass/ski boat with a 85 evinrude. My only vehicle is a 2007 Impala. Can I tow this boat alright? Would there be any problems launching ad retrieving the boat from the boat ramp? I have no idea what the boat weighs or what the toungue weight would be. Can't find any information anywhere. I have a class II hitch. THe only one made for this car.

Towing capacity is 1000 pounds on that vehicle. I think you will probably be over that.

The vehicle is not rated to tow that boat.
Your ability determines if you could tow it "alright". I know I could do it, but I don't know what your ability is.
Yes you would have trouble at ramps, simply because of the front wheel drive. Also, the traction control would want to keep you from the needed spinning of the tires. But you can turn that off.
Braking would be a concern as well. The rear disc brakes on Impalas are junk to begin with. But maybe the added tongue weight would make them work better?

All in all, not the best tow vehicle for anything, let alone a boat.

Don't tow that boat with your car. Buy a used pick up truck. You should be able to find one cheap now.

Not that you need any more convincing, but I did tow a similar weight boat with a 2000 Buick Regal. Very similar car. It did tow it but not very well and put quite a strain on the car. I think a towing rating of 1000 pounds really means - don't tow. Anyway, we had quite a bit of difficulty on the boat ramp being able to get the trailer far enough in the water so the boat floated off/on easily without submerging more of the rear end of the car more than was safe. We ended up buying an older Chevy pickup and it has worked out wonderfully.

I own and 02 impala with the 3.4 and tow my 15foot tri-hull yar craft with a 85 johnson with no problems. Just leave yourself plenty of room and go easy on the brakes. Mine has no problems @ the launch pulls her right out.

Tow rating = tranny explosion rating !!!!
