Yes, Oops. They are conferred and exclusive titles.

Members who are approaching those qualifications that I can immediately think of are SpinnerBait Nut, DJ and Don S.

these are well deserved.....

but i just never thought of the above as "members"

thats the "i boats team" :)

"Chief of the Boat" is, if not exclusively, usually a position on Submarines and is the the ranking Enlisted man on it.

But, that was then. Who knows about now?

One thing for sure; the Navy I knew is long gone.

Re: Welcome aboard, "Chief of the Boat"

Thanks, to everyone, especially JB, who helped me for weeks to come up with the new title. i've ran businesses and been the authoritative figure, but definitely did not want that here. i'm just a simple guy, who loves boats, and boating.

as for Gustav, we got 4 good days of boating, fishing and water sports. then 3 days wind and rain. We fished from the dock, in the wind, and caught more there than from the boat all week. by the way, i out fished everyone else, together. ( used a different rig.)

if you would like to see what Gustav was like, see my post in the boat topics forum, 'MOORING WHIPS' video, is was just before we loaded the boat.

again thanks, to all.

TD, Glad to see you made it back unscathed. Congratulations on the title - it's fitting. As most chiefs will tell you about being senior enlisted as opposed to officer, "I ain't no officer; my parents were married.";):D:D

congrats.

Glad we don't have a corpsman on board...with the associated handle (so to speak).

"Glad we don't have a corpsman on board" funny, i was a corpsman, in country Viet Nam. fell more like a Marine than sailor. time for your Gamma Globulin injection, and more salt tablets.

Bases also have Command master Chiefs

congrats TD!!

I take it that the USN is the same as the RN in that shore bases are classed as surface vessels
