The drive is off (I checked the alignement with my merc bar not the spline I was joking about the other day) the local merc dealer has the parts I will pick them up tommorrow. Don said you could turn the drive to one side and it will allow you to change the shift bellows. I have turned the drive and have easy access to the shift bellow that is split in half.
1.The old one was not put on with a crimp tool the person used a zip tie is this normal?
U Joint bellows look good andI have to order the hinge pin tool anyways. So, I will do these bellows at the begining of next season when I pull the drive to do my impeller and lube change I have decided to go with the tube bellows that does not connect with the bellhousing just the transom because Bondo said it is much easier to put on.
2. As, such because you do not have to attach it to the bellhousing can I change this one with out removing the bellhousing ?
I am not trying to take the short or easy way around it, just want to know if it is possible... If i can't I will do this when the hinge pin tool comes and I do my recommission work on the outdrive next seaon.
