Maybe the best version I have ever heard

Maybe this has been posted before, if so, I missed it. This is how I received an email chain type deal thing from my BIL. Pretty appropriate description, so I'll leave it as is:

This just might, no - should, bring tears to your eyes! (Damn sure isn't Goulet or Barr)_

If you haven't seen / heard it yet...

Texas Tech University Basketball game, Feb 9th, National Anthem sung by 5 young ladies, between the ages of 6 and 8.
I've never heard it performed better than this! An entire arena remains completely silent throughout the entire song. You could hear a pin drop.

YAHOO a ! encore !

a fantastic job......i love that anthem done properly.

i have been searching for months for the edmonton oilers vs detroit red wings confrence final series.....i think it was game 4...i think it was 1986...it was in edmonton

two little girls from detroit got up with there mom.......(mom was an opera lady who had been training the girls for years).....mom just watched.......the youngest did the american anthem and the older did the canadian......

it was the best version i have ever heard........the american anthem was replayed on all the local news channels

i cant find it.........the two girls were auditioned by peter poclington in his office earlier that day....... he was so taken by their voices that he cancled the uasual guy that sings it right then and there............17,564 people..in a stanly cup playoff confrence final series.......and i gaurentee neither of the girls needed a microphone.

I did a little more checking and that performance may be older than the note above indicates . . . Just Google Cactus Cuties and you can find a lot more of their stuff. Youtube etc.

I watch a lot of sports and its amazing how many butcher that anthem. Its a difficult anthem to sing but done right, its amazing.

Those girls were fantastic.

Please forgive me as I have to wipe the tears from eyes after hearing those young ladies sing.

Two songs always break me up: Amazing Grace and the National Anthem.

Unfortunately, the Anthem is too often butchered by the new young hip singers.

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore Orioles fans could soon be able to shout "O" during the national anthem without breaking the law.
A little known city ordinance requires that "The Star Spangled Banner" must be sung without altering or embellishments. Violators could face a $100 fine...

Those Cactus Cuties are amazing as well

I just wanted to share a moment that really gave me chills one day. Earlier this year here in Cleveland I attended the opening game for the Indoor Arena Football league, here at our "Q".

They had a male soldier there in uniform to sing the national anthem. As he began to sing they cut all the lights off in the arena and had only a spotlight in him, and images of flags on the video boards that run around the upper deck. This was the most amazing, most beautiful thing I have ever seen too this day. It gave me a pride, and a warmness that I can't describe.

At some point early in the song the soldiers mic began to cut out, and quickly died all together. Almost immediately 50,000+ people in that arena started singing. I think we all felt the pride of our country at that moment and decided we weren't going to let our national anthem go unsung. It was a very proud moment for me to see so many people come together like that. Just a few short lines later, his mic came back to life and he continued to accompany us in singing the anthem to the end.

When it was all over there was the loudest applause I've ever heard, and a sense of brotherhood amongst all that sat there to watch that game.

Bill
